Who should apply?


The School brings together students and professionals from both the fields of Human Rights and Cinema (human rights practitioners, film makers and producers, human rights and film students).

Participants should have relevant experience, knowledge and commitment to the objective of the School.
Proficiency in English is required.

Candidates from all over the world are encouraged to apply.
   
Many participants have subsequently gone on to collaborate amongst themselves, on films and documentaries (direction and production), setting up networks, film festivals and working on common projects. Some examples of EIUC’s Summer School’s success and networking story:

- "My Marlon and Brandon", award winning fiction film realized by Huseyin Karabey (Turkey), produced by Lucinda Englehart (UK) and Sophie Lorant (France) – 2005 Summer School participants;

- 1st Human Rights Film Festival in the Gulf region, organized by Nasser Burdestani - 2007 Summer School participant;

- The founding of a Human Rights Film Festival in Thailand, organized by Ahmed Khan – 2007 Summer School participant;

- The founding of a Human Rights Film Festival in Nepal, organized by Purna Baraily – 2007 Summer School participant;

- 1st Human Rights Film Festival in Moldavia organized by Silvia Romanciuc 2006 Summer School participant;

- A documentary set in Turkey, by Anouchka Unel, 2007 Summer School participant;

- Screening of the short film ‘The Thread’ at the San Sebastian Film festival directed by Horacio Gomez. He is also currently in production with two other documentaries - 2007 Summer School participant;

- Creation of a Human Rights filmography at the University of Washington by Glenda Pearson - 2005 Summer School participant.
